This is a discussion I have had with a number of people in Asia, Europe and US for as long as I can remember. How the Powers That Be, understood, the only way to retain power was to become God. The irony, until today, the so called religious elite's across all spectrums continue to propagate such beliefs in order to retain power over the masses.

In context God exists in Sprite (Mind), Likeness (Body) and Life (Soul). The Book of Kings clearly illustrates, man Should Not worship another Man. Man thinking he's a God only leads to trouble and to prove such, Man Oppress other men and slaughters humans in the name of self.
