A Huey P. Newton Story - Actions - COINTELPRO | PBS
"Within one year of the formation of the Black Panther Party, the FBI established a special counter-intelligence program called COINTELPRO, to neutralize political dissidents.
According to FBI documents, one of the purposes of the COINTELPRO program was to "expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize the activities of the Black nationalists". They wanted to prevent the rise of a black "messiah" and Martin Luther King Jr. had been amongst the candidates until his assassination in 1968 when the attention shifted to Huey P. Newton. Of the 295 documented actions taken by COINTELPRO to disrupt Black groups, 233 were directed against the Black Panther Party."  - PBS

American Experience | Marcus Garvey

American Experience | Marcus Garvey
"Negro producers, Negro distributors, Negro consumers! The world of Negroes can be self-contained. We desire earnestly to deal with the rest of the world, but if the rest of the world desire not, we seek not." -- Marcus Garvey, 1929
The Negro Factories Corporation was the finance arm of the Universal Negro Improvement Association. A cornerstone of Garvey's vision for black economic independence, the Negro Factories Corporation was created with the goal of supporting businesses that would employ African Americans and produce goods to be sold to black consumers. Garvey envisioned a string of black-owned factories, retailers, services and other businesses, and hoped that the corporation would eventually be strong enough to power and sustain an all-black economy with worldwide significance

Pitfalls of Home Selling and the Afro Cost

This is an unfortunate reality AfrocatioN must emphasize when selling a home in a none Afrocentric neighborhood.. As one who has purchased and sold a number of homes, there are those that refuse to purchase a home due to the mere fact you, the seller is Afro American.

Afro Home selling 101:
  1. remove yourself and likeness (even sooner) from the premise prior to potential buyers arrival.
  2. While this mindset is not indicative of the whole you'll be hard press to differentiate the few .
  3. Play it safe while happily counting your green proceeds on the way to the bank.
